what knows white…?
In the white gallery of the Künstlerhaus Bergedorf, the five artists address the effect, use, sound and occurrence of white color using various media:
••••• Lorenzo Thiele Galizia in his video – Shiro (White). „Day in and day out, exposed to the same impressions, the same colors, the same food, the same feeling on the skin, neither smells nor tastes.  Senses are used but no sense is encouraged. You hardly get any sleep in a room that is always lit, the sense of time is non-existent.  The space swallows you up and you lose yourself.“
•••• Dirk Thiele shows 100 photos with white associations. And in his theatrical performance „The Masks of the White Demons“ with ten almost white masks, the audience can put on the masks and then become demon players. A large paper mask approximately 250 cm x 250 cm is carried outside through the streets. Dirk Thiele speaks the text “The White Theater” on the Inner Alster. The story of the hidden Jews in the Thalia Theater Hamburg. During his performance he serves little queen pies, vegan and all in white.
••• In the lecture „In the White Cell“ by Brian O’Doherty (1976) – A continuation of criticism“, Michel Chevalier outlines the essay „Inside the White Cube“ by Brian O’Doherty and updates a criticism of the ideology of the art market.
•• With a spatial installation made of cotton bodies, Judith Haman manipulates the gallery space, changes perspectives and stages the space as an imaginary image. And shows pictures under a final white layer of oil, tempera and cotton wool.
• A table as an instrument – Heiner Metzger calls soundtables the tables he found and built himself, with which he has been improvising sounds, noise textures and rhythms since 2005. Initially playing with cutlery, brushes and other household items, he then switched more to surfaces, cones and hemispheres made of Styrofoam. For his concert on the opening evening, he builds a polystyrene table from which he creates white noise using cello bows and objects made of cardboard, metal and wood.
